For some fellows, this will be a “gap year” experience before graduate school, medical school, or while deciding on future career directions. This position is a full-time (40 hours per week) commitment.

Type of work in the community will vary based on opportunities sought by the fellows, research projects available and activities of community organizations. Fellows will also spend a day weekly or bi-weekly in leadership development to include a seminar series on health and public policy, leadership skills, and social and cultural determinants of health. Finally, fellows will also be expected to participate in a year-end evaluation of the program.
The University of Alabama/Pickens Co. Health Care Teaching County Partnership seeks recent UA graduates who are interested in a one-year fellowship. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in premed, nursing, social work, nutrition, psychology, health education, business, communications or another discipline that relates to health and/or community engagement.
Travel to and through Pickens County will be expected of each fellow.
This program consists of a commitment of up to one-year, . The program will make effort to accommodate fellows seeking and starting new academic programs for Fall/Spring of 2018.
