Responsible for the on-going development and implementation of college-wide orientation and transition programs for new students, transfer students, nontraditional students, and high school students, including Dual to Degree (D2D), a specialized retention based initiative. The Coordinator reports to and assists the Manager of Dual Enrollment by executing functions to ensure adequate, structured front door experiences that strengths the planning, recruitment, coordination, awareness and assessment of the dual enrollment and dual-to-degree transition programs for eligible high school students. Regularly the Coordinator collaborates with various student and academic affairs departments to implement procedures and provide exemplary service. Additionally, the Coordinator oversees and professionally develops D2D Scholars, also known as Owl Success Squad Ambassadors, as Orientation Leaders, assisting students in transitioning through the college, gaining connections to the campus and graduating and/or transferring successfully. Assists the Early College Access Program & Orientation Director in planning, developing, scheduling, marketing, implementing and facilitating all New Student Orientations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree in student personnel services, higher education administration, a social science or related field or equivalent formal training in related field. Combination of education and related experience for a total of six years.
  • Three years of experience in a position directly related to student recruitment in higher education, secondary education, teaching, community relations or other directly related professional area. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience working with first generation and new college students, assessing academic needs, and creatively initiating, collaborating and organizing events and workshops for student success.
  • This position requires the ability to reinforce learning strategies using a variety of teaching methods, including collaborative active learning, and the ability to use technology as a teaching and learning tool.

    CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed.   • Social media savvy to manage student social media ambassadors.
  • Ability to travel to and from off-campus (e.g. extension center orientation, dual enrollment events at various PGCPS locations).
  • Ability to work independently on tasks with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to learn tasks quickly and implement efficiently.
  • Maintain proficiency in computer technology including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and other related software. Ability to learn and utilize the student information system Colleague.
  • Experience supervising and developing student leaders.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary student development theory and/or personality theory; excellent listening and guidance skills; ability to easily relate to diverse student needs and determine best course of action(s).
  • Ability to communicate orally and in written format.
  • Ability to determine learning outcomes for student activities and programs and assess such.
  • Ability to problem solve; ability to create and implement interesting and timely student programs; able to relate to a variety of students and assist them in resolving school related and minor personal problems that will lead to retention and student success.

  • Job Requirements
  • Must be available Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department.
